Career in Foods industry?

I’m doing an assignment for my Foods & Nutrition class that has information for a career of our choice that is in the Foods industry. I chose to do my report on a Pastry Chef.

What I’m asking for: A website (or more than one) that has the information I need for my essay.

Information I need:
- Training required to become a Pastry Chef and how to obtain that training (what schools/programs offer the training)
- Job availability and the typical salary
- A drawback to a career as a Pastry Chef
- Other/extra information is also appreciated.

The assignment is to be done as a Five-Paragraph Essay (Intro, 3 Subjects, Conclusion).

Thanks in advance!
~Jeff

Deciding on a career is one of the most vital decisions you can make in life. My son wanted assistance with his career options during the last couple of weeks, so he went to the site in the box below, which has some sensible tips on career decision-making. It really happened for him because he now is aware of precisely what he needs, and more importantly what he is required to do to get there!

ok, i was thinking about leaving college to become a pastry chef.
my ultimate dream is to have my own shop.
anyway, in texas the average pastry chef makes $35,000. i'm single, with no kids and living in texas is pretty cheap.

do you think i'll be able to survive?
do you think going to culinary school is a good move? i really don't feel happy here in college. i feel like i'm being fake. why? i think the sole reason i'm still here is because it is expected of me. i was a geek in high school with a 4.0 gpa.

plz help…

Thats better than average and a single person can easily make it and more on that salary……

i have to write a 10pg report..on pastry chefs…an a section of it has to be about the salary, benifits. the employment outlook but i cant find what i need soo if any of you can please help me..thanks

There is no better place to hone your skills than the culinary institute of America in Hyde Park NY– Johnson and wales in Rhode Island is a less expensive alternative. I would reccomend trying to get some practical experience somewhere, in a bakery scooping cookies, mixing doughs etc. keep your eyes open and absorb what happens like a sponge.
