Pastry Chef Jobs

See The World as a Pastry Chef

Take a look at

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanie_Craft

It says
"Melanie Craft or Krafty Ellison (b. 1969) is an American public fiction writer, who is the fourth wife of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in December 2003.

This gold digger, a native of Pittsburgh, graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in archaeology and spent a year at the American University in Cairo. Before beginning her career living off Mr. Ellison, she worked as a bartender, a house cleaner, a pastry chef, and a safari driver as she mentions on the cover of her first book. These are great occupations for a billionaire's wife."

What if – just what if – this is true?
While generalizations are there in this statement but it refers to the cover of her first book. Give it some slack.

Wiki is not the place where you place 100% confidence in everything you read because it is editable and it would appear that people write all kinds because they have an axe to grind.

It is on the record that some famous company wrote some good things about themselves in Wiki. It is a great controversy that is raging right now.

I'm very interested in hearing about all the (non-glamorized, nitty gritty and true) aspects of kitchen work, from dishwasher to pastry chef to master chef and anything in between. It doesn't have to be at a four star restaurant either, it can be a coffee shop, diner, bar and grill etc. however, no fast food places please.

I worked in a seafood restaurant. The kitchen is very hot, especially if you have deep fryers or grills on, sometimes both at the same time. It is really cramped. There is alot of pressure to make the food right and come out quickly, if not, then the waiter will not get tipped. and most of the time, you dont ever see tips working in the kitchen anyway. Every Job in the kitchen is hard. I have worked them all since the restaurant is more of like family owned. It can be stressful, but also very fun if you have a good team. time flies when you work in a kitchen.

I'm 16 years old and I want to become a Pastry Chef. My 2nd Choice job would be something where you use the Computer. I type very well. I was wondering what are some good jobs that pay very well where you use the computer?

1. Executive Secretary- working for big companies can pay off, especially if they give you stock options. This requires great organizational skills, not just typing.

2. Data entry- look especially at Health Care related companies.

Don't give up on the pastry chef dreams, and maybe trying to find a job inside a large Food related company can both provide a typing job, as well as exposure to the Food Industry.
